Welcome to McCook Humane Society!

Since 1983 the McCook Humane Society has provided a temporary home for puppies and kittens, as well as adult dogs and cats. We are dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.

Adopt-a-Kennel Program

Adopt-a-Kennel ProgramOur Adopt-a-Kennel Program is a great way for businesses and individuals to show the community their support for our area’s homeless animals.

The Adopt a Kennel Program is a perfect idea for a classroom project and provides the children with a class mascot!

Each kennel will have a brightly displayed sign with the adopter’s name proudly displayed on the kennel! You can participate by adopting a cat or dog kennel by donating the following amounts…

  • 1 month $25.00
  • 6 months $125.00
  • 1 year $250.00

The money received from the kennel adoptions will go to supplies and food for the dogs and cats.

If you are ready to open your heart and home to a pet, we urge you to visit the McCook Humane Society. Visitors and volunteers are always welcome.

Dogs for Adoption

Such a handsome fun guy... "KONA" is right at a year old and this Husky mix is a very active, intelligent, sweet and huge guy! He's only needing a new home because this guy does not need to be in a home where chickens live (nor cats), he's not an LGD.

Eyes that say "Take me home please"... "AINSLEY" is a truly sweet adult white with gray markings medium haired cat was brought in as a stray. She's got the saddest eyes we've ever seen, we can't help but cuddle her and she sure doesn't mind one bit.

Other Pets for Adoption

Holly & Ivy

Small & Furries... "HOLLY" is a brown and black Guinea Pig with white markings, who came in with Ivy (a black and white female), her partner. These two girls are very friendly and actually respond to their names, they've been socialized so much. They come with their cage and other belongings.
