Welcome to McCook Humane Society!

Since 1983 the McCook Humane Society has provided a temporary home for puppies and kittens, as well as adult dogs and cats. We are dedicated to finding permanent, loving homes for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals in Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.

Adopt-a-Kennel Program

Adopt-a-Kennel ProgramOur Adopt-a-Kennel Program is a great way for businesses and individuals to show the community their support for our area’s homeless animals.

The Adopt a Kennel Program is a perfect idea for a classroom project and provides the children with a class mascot!

Each kennel will have a brightly displayed sign with the adopter’s name proudly displayed on the kennel! You can participate by adopting a cat or dog kennel by donating the following amounts…

  • 1 month $25.00
  • 6 months $125.00
  • 1 year $250.00

The money received from the kennel adoptions will go to supplies and food for the dogs and cats.

If you are ready to open your heart and home to a pet, we urge you to visit the McCook Humane Society. Visitors and volunteers are always welcome.

Dogs for Adoption

Samson

"SAMSON" is a very handsome and slightly more mature large German Shepherd who originally came to us with a large group of dogs from folks that had too many. He's very calm, intelligent and sweet, gets along with any human he meets and is just a joy to be around. He was brought back years later because of life changes, and even though we've missed this big guy, we want him to find his new home quickly. We've come to learn that he does not do well with cats and would be best in a home where he is the only dog.

Marlon Bunno

Looking for a bunny? "MARLON BUNDO" was found abandoned in the park and brought to us to find a new home. This white Californian needs to find a home with someone who knows rabbits and is able to care for him.
